MANAGEMENT & STAFF

There are 62 permanent staff members at Sunfield. They are divided between Admin, the 5 Houses, the OT department, Kitchen, Medical, Estate and Outreach.

Our 111 residents and 3 day residents are well cared for by a dedicated and hard- working team of carers, supervised by committed Houseparents and their assistants. The Sunfield staff are led by the General Manager, Cliff Freeman.

VOLUNTEERS & GROUPS

At Sunfield Home Howick we are dedicated to providing our residents with the best care, stimulation and welfare that we can but this would be impossible without our inspiring volunteers and groups who help us with many activities and fundraisers.

We are fortunate to have a number of volunteer groups and individuals who help us daily with different activities.

FOSHIM (Friends of Sunfield Home Howick in the Midlands)

FOSHIM consists of 25 members – parents, family members, previous employees and people passionate about the residents of Sunfield.

They often do fundraisers to assist us and also help with different activities for example taking a group of residents for horse riding lessons and helping at the many of the events we host during the year.

Currently their biggest fundraising drive is the Wheelchair Friendly Mini-Bus fundraiser as we as a home desperately need a vehicle equip for our residents who are in wheel chairs.

Schools and other Groups

Sunfield is a wonderful Home away from Home and with the help of many of the local schools and youth groups our residents get to interact with groups of young, compassionate individuals, this is not only a great experience for our residents but also for the youth who volunteer.

Schools and groups who often come to visit are Michaelhouse, The Destiny Team from One Life Church Pietermaritzburg, Howick High school and Hilton College.

We can’t express our appreciation enough to these youngsters and their passion for our residents.

FOS ( Friends of Sunfield Durban )

We raise funds for Sunfield Home in the Durban and surrounding area including the upper Highway.  We would welcome any parents, siblings or friends of a resident to meet with us, and are open to any new ideas to raise funds.  Best to contact us via email on fosdbn@saol.com

SPONSORS & DONORS

As a non-profit organization, we are heavily reliant on the generosity of others to maintain the Home in a way that continues to be a beacon of hope for parents and siblings of intellectually impaired adults.

Unfortunately, many of our residents outlive their primary care-givers and become dependent on the Home for a safe haven in which to live out their remaining days. Our reputation and commitment to becoming a centre of excellence means we are a reliable and trustworthy recipient of donations, social responsibility funds and sponsorship opportunities for individuals and companies.

Talk to us about any thoughts, ideas or plans you have for finding win/win solutions. We’d like to welcome you to the Sunfield Supporters’ family.
