At Sunfield, we’re more than just caregivers — we’re a family. Our residents are embraced as individuals with unique talents, dreams, and aspirations. Here, they’re not defined by their disabilities but celebrated for their strengths and contributions.
We’re committed to creating a community where everyone feels valued, respected, and supported.
Sunfield traces its roots to the Magaliesburg Children’s Home for the intellectually impaired, established in 1953. Since then, our journey has grown and expanded, with homes established across South Africa to provide appropriate care for the intellectually impaired.
Schafer House Project
We are embarking on an ambitious journey to raise ZAR15 million for the renovation of our occupational therapy facility, housed in an AMAFA Registered old farmhouse – Schafer House.
Schafer House located at the heart of our grounds is one of the oldest buildings on our property and holds immense historical significance for our community. With your support, we want to transform it into a state-of-the-art occupational therapy centre for 100+ residents.
This centre will offer a wide range of vocational activities, workshops, and therapies tailored to each individual’s needs. From woodworking to culinary arts, residents will have the opportunity to explore their passions, develop new skills, and lead fulfilling lives.
By refurbishing Schafer House, we’re not just renovating a building; we’re revitalizing a piece of history and creating a place where every resident feels empowered, included, and valued.
Occupational therapy is a cornerstone of our approach. It’s not just about rehabilitation; it’s about empowerment. Through occupational therapy, we enable intellectually impaired adults to lead full, busy lives.
Whether it’s learning new skills, engaging in meaningful activities, or participating in community events, our residents have the opportunity to thrive and contribute to society.
By focusing on abilities rather than limitations, we’re redefining what it means to live with intellectual impairments.
