At Sunfield Home Howick, a dedicated residential and day-care facility for intellectually impaired adults, we believe in creating a supportive and enriching environment where every individual can thrive.
The Day Scholar program at Sunfield Home accommodates individuals who wish to participate in our workshops and activities without residing on-site. Day scholars attend from Monday to Friday, between 09:00 and 15:30, seamlessly integrating into our daily routine alongside full-time residents.
This program is ideal for individuals who seek structured engagement while maintaining the comforts of home life.
Developing valuable skills in a structured and supportive setting. These programs provide hands-on skills in various areas, equipping residents with useful life and vocational skills.
Engaging in fitness and recreational programs for physical well-being. Our sports activities cater to different abilities, promoting an active and healthy lifestyle.
Opportunities for social interaction and cultural enrichment. Regular excursions help expand horizons, allowing scholars to experience new places and events.
Enjoying a fully cooked lunch in one of our units, fostering a sense of community and inclusion. This mealtime provides not just nourishment but also an opportunity to connect with peers.
Beyond structured activities, day scholars build friendships, learn teamwork, and develop confidence through everyday interactions with fellow residents and caregivers.
Participating in the Day Scholar program at Sunfield Home provides a wealth of benefits:
Many individuals thrive with a predictable daily structure, helping them feel secure and engaged.
Whether through vocational training, creative projects, or recreational activities, day scholars gain essential life skills.
Being part of a larger group helps foster independence, cooperation, and social confidence.
The program allows families to balance caregiving responsibilities while ensuring their loved ones receive professional care and meaningful engagement.
We understand that every individual has unique needs. That’s why our Day Scholar program offers flexible attendance options. Whether someone wishes to attend two days a week, three days, or all five, we tailor the schedule to best suit their needs and circumstances. This flexibility ensures that participants and their families can create a routine that works best for them.
To ensure that we provide the best experience for each participant, an interview is required before joining the program. This helps us understand individual requirements to ensure that Sunfield Home Howick is the right fit. During the interview process, we discuss the participant’s needs, preferences, and how our program can provide the best support.
If you or a loved one are interested in becoming a day scholar at Sunfield Home, we encourage you to reach out for more information and to schedule an interview.
