Night to Shine is a global movement founded by the Tim Tebow Foundation in 2015. Held annually around the world, it is a one-of-a-kind prom night experience for individuals with special needs, aged 14 and older. Every honoured guest is celebrated, crowned a king or queen, and reminded of their inherent value and purpose.
Since its launch, the event has grown to over 720 locations across more than 50 countries, with hundreds of thousands of volunteers participating to make the night magical. Learn more about its inspiring mission https://www.timtebowfoundation.org/stories/night-to-shine-2025.
Sunfield Home is proud to have hosted our second Night to Shine, and the love, laughter, and sparkle were second to none.
From the moment our residents stepped into the preparation area, they were treated like royalty.
Volunteers and caregivers buzzed around, helping each person into their outfit, adjusting ties, tiaras and dresses, and calming any pre-party butterflies.
Then came the grand entrance.
As each resident walked the red carpet, the crowd erupted in applause and cheers.
Our kings and queens beamed with confidence — and rightly so.
The evening featured:
– Glamorous makeovers
– Live Music and dancing
– Laughter, hugs, and joyful reunions
– A moment of blessing and encouragement
– The crowning of each guest as a king or queen
It was more than just a party — it was a celebration of inclusion, honour, and love.
While the spotlight was on our residents, we want to shine a light on those who worked tirelessly behind the scenes to make the night so special.
A heartfelt thank you goes to Kym Meiring and her amazing team of volunteers, who lovingly provided hair styling, makeup, and nail treatments. This was their second year partnering with us, and their care and dedication were visible in every radiant smile.
We’re also deeply grateful to:
You each played a part in creating memories that will last a lifetime.
Night to Shine 2025 was a powerful reminder of what happens when a community comes together — when people from all walks of life pour love into others without expecting anything in return.
Our residents didn’t just sparkle because of the lights, the dresses, or the music. They shone because they were seen, celebrated, and cherished for exactly who they are.
We extend our deepest gratitude to the Tim Tebow Foundation for launching and nurturing this beautiful global movement. We’re honoured to be part of it and look forward with full hearts to the next Night to Shine.

“I’d just like to say again what a fabulous evening Night to Shine was for everyone. Our son is new to Sunfield, so this event was a spectacular way for him to be embraced by the community and to feel VERY special indeed!
It was amazing to see how all the Sunfield residents came alive and visibly basked in their moments to shine. Thank you for so passionately pulling Night to Shine together for our special “kids” in Howick. What you organised takes enormous effort, tremendous commitment and dedication as well as a great deal of energy. Thank you for pouring your heart and soul into this incredible initiative.
We are so very grateful to you for championing the cause.” Parents of a Sunfield Resident
“I know I have already tried to put into words my gratitude for all the hard work you put into Night To Shine, Tania, but I would like to include Don and the Sunfield staff. The fabulous Night To Shine was an extraordinary team effort.
I popped into Gregson before the event, witnessing Londi’s loving calm efficiency, carers hard at work with finishing touches, the results of volunteers with hair and makeup. So much excitement in the build-up to the most extraordinary event which the residents will never forget. I saw the Sunfield team seamlessly at work throughout the big event.
Thank you to everyone for making this a truly memorable Night To Shine for our residents and for us, their families. Your kindness, caring and dedication shine through. We are extraordinarily fortunate to have our “children” at Sunfield. With love to you all.” – Parent of a Sunfield Resident
“My first Night to Shine was two years ago. It was very exciting to go and be fitted with a suit and this made me very excited to go and choose another one. The suit which I chose was very colourful and different and so I was looking forward to walking along the red carpet.
Seeing so many family and friends was wonderful. We were surrounded by the Howick community. There was so much dancing, music and clapping. Walking on the red carpet was amazing. I also loved showing everyone my waistcoat. I got a warm feeling of what it felt like to be a king. We were all kings and queens that night. We had a delicious meal and a yummy chocolate pudding. We got to dance the night away.
This was not only a night to shine, but a night to remember. I would like to thank all the organizers and sponsors for all their hard work and generosity. I’m grateful for the beautiful photographs which were taken of us all and so I have been able to share them with my families overseas.
Thank You very much to everybody. I had a wonderful time. God bless everyone who made this happen.” Sunfield Resident – Charlie
“Over the years we have truly seen this event transform into a movement of the Holy Spirit through churches, volunteers, and supporters all seeking to give glory to God by celebrating and advocating for people with disabilities and the value of life. The effect has been astounding as we have witnessed God begin to change the very culture in countries that have traditionally rejected people with special needs and rally the church worldwide to stand up for some of the most vulnerable, boldly proclaiming the name of Jesus through word and action.” – Jacci, organiser of Night to Shine in Howick, hosted by Howick Community Church
